This event is open to all students\, staff\, faculty\, commu nity members and other Gender+ allies.
Research that undertakes gender and sex analysis can be po werful for understanding the lived\, material realities of gender and sexua l difference. Feminist and gender studies have pushed academic research bey ond sex disaggregation that views the categories of ‘male’ and ‘female’ as fixed and innate to see gender and sex as socially constructed norms that a re connected to power. By centering power in discussions of gender\, femini st scholars invite us to take seriously how feminist scholarship can impact communities outside of academia. This means not only rethinking our method ologies and research frameworks but also our practices as researchers and s cholars living in an entangled world.
As a group of emerging and established scholars what role can gen der+ analysis play in helping us navigate our research and lives during a t ime of unprecedented crisis? How does a gender+ lens invite us to reimagine our relations to our work\, each other\, and the world we live in? We invi te you to join us for a moment of collective reflection to think about thes e questions and more with peers\, professors and other Gender+ allies on Se ptember 27th at 12pm.
