Eligibility Criteria:
Open to UBC graduate and upper year undergraduate students with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Web Development
- Business Plan/Model Development
- Accounting
Project Description:
Prospective members will join a team of students currently working remotely on assisting one of ORICE’s community partner organizations, Quelonios del Caribe (a non-profit conservation organization in Costa Rica). The group’s main tasks are to redesign Quelonios’ website to attract volunteers and donors to the organization, and to develop a sustainable long-term business plan/model that the organization can implement and use going forward.
Logistics:
All work will take place on the Vancouver campus. Students will work with ORICE and Quelonios staff (via email/Skype) to craft a draft business model for Quelonios del Caribe, and revamp their website.
The estimated time commitment for this program is 3-5 hours per week from the end of February to the end of March. The breakdown of this time commitment is as follows:
- Participation in a 1 hour weekly meeting (scheduled around students’ course work)
- 2-4 hours of independent research/work per week outside of scheduled meetings
