About

Carolina Basso (she/her) is the Program Coordinator of the Office of Regional and International Community Engagement (ORICE) at UBC. She has considerable experience with project coordination and volunteer management having worked with local communities and non-profit organizations in poverty reduction, cultural belonging, food inequality, and vulnerable immigrant/refugee populations. She holds a BA in International Relations and Sociology from UBC and has worked with the SPPGA in the past as a work-learn student. She is particularly interested in gender relations, multiculturalism, and inclusivity. Moreover, being passionate about social and reproductive justice, she hopes to create her own NGO focused on women’s causes in the future.

Originally from Brazil with an Italian heritage, she speaks Portuguese and Spanish but aims to become an established polyglot in the next years by consolidating her French and Italian fluencies. Outside of work, she loves to meditate by the water or watch social and cultural impact documentaries.
